With Fernando Torres faltering in front of goal in the Premier League this season and Demba Ba not watering anyone’s mouth, Chelsea are on the lookout for an out-and-out striker to spearhead their attack next year. Here are three names that the Blues NEED to be offering for and why.
1) Edinson Cavani

It has come to light that the Uruguayan wants to work with Jose Mourinho, and with the Portuguese keen to strike a deal with the forward a move is a real possibility. He has proved his worth in front of goal in his Napoli career and is now pushing for a big money move across Europe while he is in free scoring form.
2) Robert Lewandowski

Possibly the most natural finisher in the game today, Lewandowski has sculpted a reputation of being calm, composed and deadly in front of goal and able to work space in tight situations. He has also scored a hatful of goals in the Champions League but with his contract expiring next summer Borussia Dortmund have to decide whether it is worth keeping him for another season and letting him leave on a free or cash in now.
3) Wayne Rooney

He may be a drama queen and almost unbearable as an individual, but Rooney offers a hell of a lot as a football player. His passion for the game, his ability in front of goal both in the air and on the floor, and an abundance of creativity which is squeezed out of him when pushed back into a midfield role.
With Rooney handing in his second transfer request in his Old Trafford rein a move is certainly on the cards this time round.
