Report: Chelsea set to confirm player transfer

If reports from the Daily Mail is set to be believed then Fernando Torres’ career in the Premier League is set to be over. The story claims that the 30 year old Spaniard is all set to join Italian Giants AC Milan on loan as he tumultuous career at Chelsea is finally drawing to a close. The former Liverpool player has two years left on his Chelsea contract which is worth £9m a year but Milan have offered him a package of £7m. Manager Jose Mourinho also doesn’t have Torres in his plans and the London club will finally have to part ways with the player who cost them £50m in January 2012.

Italian website Gazzetta Dello Sport have also reported that Milan CEO Adriano Galliani also personally made a phone call yesterday to Torres to persuade him to sign on the dotted lines at the Rossoneri. The San Siro outfit have also identified Torres as the perfect replacement for Mario Balotelli, the controversial Italian genius who joined Liverpool last week.

Torres has also fallen down the pecking order with Diego Costa now being the first choice striker. Moreover Didier Drogba has also been Mourinho’s favourite go to player which means Torres would have to spend time on the sidelines should he stay with Chelsea. It is also believed that Mourinho wants to bring Roma striker Mattia Destro to bolster his attacking options as he aims to challenge for the Premier League title.

Moreover Tutto Mercato Web also reported that Torres’ agent was also in Italy ahead of the proposed move. Milan News also confirmed it with the player’s agent reacting positively with talks saying, “The meeting went well. Torres to Milan is a real possibility. We will take some time to reflect before giving an answer. I cannot add anything more. Milan are a great club.”
