According to FIFA agent Francois Gallardo, Real Madrid are weighing up a £20m bid for Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie. Real signed Javier Hernandez on loan from Manchester United and based on how the 1st half of the season transpires, they might make a move for the Dutchman who hasn’t had the best of times at Manchester since his 1st season there. Gallardo and certain reports in Spain also revealed that Van Persie is Real Madrid’s top priority in January.

The 31-year old has had an injury plagued two-year spell and has rarely appeared in a string of games for the Red Devils. The managerial changes haven’t helped either as United have had three managers in the last two years. Last season, the Rooney and RVP partnership rarely clicked and there were questions being asked if the two can play together. It is yet to be seen if they can as Van Persie’s chances of an assured position in the starting line-up is under serious jeopardy due to the arrival of Radamel Falcao.

Just like the Dutchman, the Colombian international too has just returned from an injury and it’ll be a direct competition between the two for the starting spot. The former Arsenal man was excited nevertheless and revealed that he is looking forward to play with the new signings,

“I can’t wait to go and train and play with the world class players we have signed.

“That feeling, that we are going to perform well, has only got stronger after the buying of players over the last weeks.

“I find it very exciting, the arrival of all those new players.

“For me personally, it’s brilliant to go and play with some of the best players in the world. It’s great that I can go and train and play with them every day,” he added.

Van Persie has played previously in the 3-5-2 system deployed by manager Louis Van Gaal in the World Cup, and his return will be key for Manchester United in the upcoming games as they are yet to register a win in the Barclays Premier League. However, the Dutchman was far from his best in the last game and will have to improve if he wants to start ahead of Falcao.
