The Belgian press has been speculating for quite some time now that Manchester United have reached a deal to bring 16 year old Indy Boonen to Old Trafford. The young attacking midfielder has joined a list of other superstars, who have recently made a move from Belgium to the Premier League side. His father Jacky Boonen was quite pleased by his son joining the Red Devils and was quoted by Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg explaining why he preferred the Manchester side, by saying,

“Indy was especially impressed when he met his compatriots Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj.”

Other clubs which have been linked with the youngster, according to the Belgian newspaper include Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester City and other clubs like Feyenoord and Wolfsburg. Manchester United’s Belgian connections are said to be the reason, for the preference, after the upcoming star was invited to train with many big clubs across the continent. Boonen and his family haven’t shifted to Manchester yet and are waiting for a deal to first be completed at the end of the season. His father further spoke on this topic and added,

“Then we finally move with the family to Manchester. Until then it is the intention to hold the following schedule: two weeks Manchester, Belgium one week, two weeks Manchester.”
