Premier League champions Chelsea are now being strongly linked with a move for 27 year old right-back Gregory van der Wiel, according to French newspaper Le Parisien. Reportedly, the Blues face competition from another Premier league giants Manchester United for the Dutchman’s signature.

Branislav Ivanovic started the season in a disastrous way as Chelsea dropped points in their opening game vs Swansea. Ivanovic was one of the weakest link in Chelsea’s defence and Swansea wingers exploited it well. Mostly, this is why Jose wants a new right-back who can contribute to both defence and attack without leaving gaps at the back. Van der Wiel fits perfectly to these requirements.
