“World Class” is banded around willy nilly in modern football, to many players are assigned this title, on the merit of a game or run of form. Gareth Bale is a good player, in fact he is a very good player, but World Class? Ridiculous, it wasn’t to long ago, Harry was looking to ship the former Southampton trainee on loan to Nottingham Forest and was reported with the view to a permanent move, the 3 million quid being the stumbling block.
Now, how has the Welsh International gone from potential Spurs cast out, to a £50 million man. Two words, Inter Milan. Yes, a hatrick in the San Siro is quite an accomplishment and something only players can dream of, but does this ONE game deserve such an accolade. No, the winger has produced some excellent displays since that night in Milan and I have no doubt he will go on to be one of the best players in the world, but right now, certainly not.
Some excellent games this season for the young lad, but has also been meet with some very average ones. Recent injuries haven’t help, but on the mend and hopefully we will see a fully fit Gareth Bale line up against a fully fit Ronaldo…
