Arsenal are long-odds on to beat Wolves at the Emirates on Tuesday, and I fancy Robin van Persie to fire them to a comfortable victory over Mick McCarthy’s men.
The Gunners bounced back from a 1-0 defeat at Man city to beat Villa 2-1 away and maintain their challenge for a top four finish and this really should be easy pickings for them.
All eyes will once again be on Robin van Persie who remains in red-hot form and is close to setting a new record for Premier League goals scored in a calender year.
The Dutchman moved onto 34 goals in 2011 by scoring from the spot at Villa Park, and now has just this game and the home match against QPR on New Year’s Eve to try and pass Alan Shearer’s record of 36.
bet365 go 3.5 about him setting a new record and that is a very tempting price given the strength of the opposition in the two remaining games.
But regardless of the outcome of that bet, he is surely worth sticking with in this game to get on the score sheet as he will be relishing the prospect of terrorising a weak Wolves back-line.
Without wanting to be repetitive and boring I am once again going to suggest backing him to score first and anytime during the 90 minutes as it has proved a winning recipe for us throughout the season so far.
Paddy Power go 3.5 about him netting the opener, and that certainly looks a bit of value with other firms going just 3.25.
However even better value could be the 1.57 on offer with Boylesports for him to net during the 90 minutes.
If Arsenal do win as expected he will surely get his name on the scoresheet and the 1.57 appeals as better value than backing the Gunners at 1.25 in the outright market.
My idea of the final outcome is a 4-1 victory for the Gunners at a tasty 17 with Boylesports.
