Many writers complain about the influx of players from abroad in the Premier League nowadays. However, one country with a relatively small proportion of Premiership players is Italy. Currently only five Italians play at top-flight level in this country, the least well known of these players could have a big future.
Fulham’s Marcello Trotta is one of only two players to score 15 goals in the reserve league last season. He’s had loan spells at Wycombe and Watford being most prolific for Wanderers where he scored a phenomenal eight goals in eight games.
We got a brief glimpse of Trotta when he came on as an 88th minute substitute for Fulham against Bolton this season, an occasion on which he almost scored.
As we can infer from his prolific scoring in the reserve league, it is clear that the 19-year-old from Caserta has the potential to make a name for himself in the Premier League.
