Liverpool memories of Fernando Torres (Video)

The years 2007- (January) 2011 were a much simpler time for Spanish striker Fernando Torres. A time when he could no wrong under the guidance of compatriot Rafael Benitez and supplied by Xabi Alonso and Steven Gerrard.

During that time Torres became the fastest Liverpool player in history to reach a half century of league goals. He was number nine. He was talismanic. He was the spearhead of the attack.

Fast forward to his Chelsea career and Torres has looked a shadow of himself. A record of 11 goals in 53 league games would have astounded many a few years ago. Now it has just become the norm.

Torres hasn’t simply lost his gift. Technically speaking Torres is the finished article, there is certainly no way a player can achieve such personal milestones without a huge talent. Recently the signs have started to emerge that Torres the man is back, as opposed to Torres the name.

Either way Torres’ time at Liverpool was remarkable and as such the video below pays tribute to a man who was idolized by the Kop faithful for a number of years.
