Willian: The afro sporting midfielder coming to a team near you (Video)

Much has been made of samba star Willian over the past week regarding a possible move to the Premiership once again. As all will know, the midfielder was linked with a move to Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur over the summer and it is the London duo who appear to be leading the race for the 24-year-old.

His Champions League performance against the Blues on Tuesday night, in which his Shakhtar Donetsk side ran out 2-1 winners, would only have seen his stock rise considerably. Furthermore, the revelation that Willian is Spurs head-coach Andre Villas-Boas’ new BFF will only intensify the speculation linking him with a move to England.

It is hardly surprising to see the schemer linked with a move away from the Ukrainian champions, with Willian himself keen to secure a move to mainland Europe in order to improve his international chances.

With only two caps for Brazil, some are of the opinion the youngster is warranting more appearances for the Seleção, especially with Mano Menezes’ side lacking any competitive action until the 2014 World Cup.

Nevertheless, his display on Tuesday night will surely add to his price-tag, which almost 12 months ago stood at around £16m. It also appears the Blues and Spurs are the front-runners for his signature, with none of Europe’s heavyweights showing a real interest in the playmaker.

Whether or not either team makes a move for Willian once the transfer window re-opens remains to be seen, but if either land the Shakhtar star; they will be signing a player who possesses an immense amount of talent and one who will only improve in the future.
