What next for David Beckham? (Video)

As the news broke early on Tuesday morning that David Beckham was to be leaving LA Galaxy next month, many were left wondering what was next for the former England star. At 37-years-old, there is still plenty the former Real Madrid and Manchester United ace can offer.

Beckham has in recent weeks been linked with a move to Australia, either as an A-League player or manager of the national team. What is a given is that the MLS is losing a player that has certainly seen its profile bolstered by the midfielder.

When it was announced back in 2007 that Beckham was to leave Real Madrid for Galaxy, many a football fan were shocked. At the time 31 years of age, the midfielder still had plenty to offer, with speed never a real facet of his game.

Nevertheless, despite offers from elsewhere, he fulfilled his contract with the MLS side and as a result has seen the league’s profile rise substantially. The likes of Thierry Henry, Tim Cahill and Robbie Keane, all established Premiership stars in their heyday, have since moved to America at one point or another following the success of Beckham in America.

While his management team have denied that any deal to take him ‘down under’ and follow in the footsteps of Alessandro Del Piero and Emile Heskey, rumours are likely to remain abound that a potential move is possible. Either way, Beckham still has plenty to offer the footballing world and any team would be lucky to have a player of his ilk and marketability within their ranks.
