Not to be outdone by Mexes or Zlatan, Arsenal’s Lukasz Podolski contributed this effort for goal of the season last night against Montpellier in the Champions League.
Whilst Mexes and Ibrahimovic’s efforts were fantastic pieces of individual skill, this goal includes a fantastic assist from Olivier Giroud whose pass is so perfectly weighted that it sits up just right for Podolski to smash home.
Silky smooth stuff and the finish is nothing short of spectacular. There was a certain touch of RVP about it and Podolski modestely claimed afterwards that the goal was nothing without the assist.
