Luis Suarez is not a victim. All the criticism that surrounds him has been caused by his own actions.
This is a sentiment that Swansea City defender Ashley Williams would agree with. He will come face to face with the Liverpool striker on Sunday, with the hope of preventing the Premier League’s leading goal-scorer from finding the net.
However, their encounter might not be a pretty one, as quotes from Williams’ recently published book My Premier League Diary have revealed how the Wales international once wanted to ‘knock him out’.
A feeling many football fans would share, Williams may find himself in trouble with the FA for expressing his opinion of the controversial Uruguayan.
Liverpool supporters must continue to stand by the man wearing their famous red shirt but, on Sunday, the rest of the footballing world will be behind Williams.
Respect is something which has to be earned and that can only be done so with honesty. Suarez’s constant deception of referees and his fellow professionals makes him easy to despise.
He may be admired for all his magnificent skill and ability as a player, but Luis Suarez is a human being who is extremely difficult to empathise with.
