Another day, another played being linked with a move to Manchester United. Monday saw the Premier League pace setters mooted with a possible January move for versatile Athletic Bilbao man Oscar de Marcos, while Tuesday has seen Sir Alex Ferguson’s side reportedly showing an interest in Admira Wacker youngster Marcel Sabitzer.
The 18-year-old has netted eight times since the start of last season, with his form rewarded through his first international cap for his native Austria against Roman over the summer. As such, interest is believed to be high in Sabitzer.
While United have been linked with a possible move, they appear to be behind Juventus in the pecking order. The Serie A champions have also shown a strong interest in the teenager and are believed to be preparing a January swoop for the striker.
While another front-man shouldn’t be high on the priority list for United, such is their defensive woes at present; a move for Sabitzer could be what Ferguson needs for the future. The youngster is clearly show signs that he will improve and available for a reported £1m, as a result of his contract expiring next summer, bringing him to Old Trafford could be a wise move for the experienced Scot.
Warding off interest from Juventus will be essential if they are to snare the 18-year-old, but in doing so it could go some way to re-establishing United as a dominant European force once again.
