Taarabt begins QPR’s survival challenge (Video)

After his two goals sent them to their first league win of the season, Adel Taarabt is currently a popular figure amongst QPR fans.

The Moroccan playmaker has never really set the world on fire in the Premier League, failing to live up to the admirable performances he displayed for the West London side in the Championship. In fact, today’s two goals alone match his entire tally for the whole of last season, leaving him on double that amount so far this campaign with four.

QPR’s win over rivals Fulham not only ended the clubs record-breaking winless start to a Premier League season, but also extended manager Harry Redknapp’s unbeaten run after four games in charge. People questioned whether the former Tottenham boss would be able to turn it around at Loftus Road, with today’s victory bound to play a significant role in the club’s future.

Relegation is something QPR only just avoided last season and, despite further investment in the squad over the summer, they have looked even more vulnerable this year. Harry Redknapp, however, is known for getting the best out of players.

With the quality available to him at QPR, Redknapp may just keep the club up. Ultimately, though, it is down to the likes of Adel Taarabt to continue to do the business on the pitch.
