Fellaini is one lucky chap (Video)

When fans bore witness to Marouane Fellaini’s multiple unprovoked set of attacks on Ryan Shawcross during Stoke City’s 1-1 draw with Everton, there were calls that the Belgian would receive a huge ban and miss a substantial chunk of the Toffees season.

Yet, when the news broke on Monday that the Divine Afro would only sit out Everton’s next three games – away at West Ham United and Chelsea either side of a home game with Wigan Athletic – the blue half of Merseyside must’ve been breathing a huge sigh of relief.

Many felt the 25-year-old would be sidelined for at least five games and while it’s harsh to say the Toffees are a one-man team, his absence would surely have been felt, regardless of the capabilities of his teammates.

The carefully chosen words of manager David Moyes following the stalemate with the Potters may’ve spared him a longer suspension, although it’s likely referee Mark Halsey will lose a copious amount of respect within the game after confirming he saw both incidents in the game, but decided neither were worthy of punishment.

Either way, even if he has “got away with” only missing three games, his loss could well be detrimental to Everton, such is his impact this season. Although, with media outlets suggesting he “accepted” the charge, I dare say he would’ve bit your hand off when realising the length of his suspension.
