Is Bale Amongst The Best? (Video)
Gareth Bale’s hat trick on Boxing Day had Tottenham Hotspur coach Andre Villas-Boas raving about the Welshman being one of the world’s top players and I thought ‘where does Bale rank in the league of football’s stars?’
Obviously you think of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the top two but Bale, and every other footballer, can only marvel at the thing those two can do on the pitch, they are at a totally different level to anybody else currently playing the game.
The next bracket is where I believe the Spurs winger fits in, a group of players spread across the world and populated by the likes of Radamel Falcao, Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Wayne Rooney. These are the world class players (Messi and Ronaldo are ‘out of this world’) that can change the game in a split second with a stunning goal, ludicrous skill or a mesmerising run.
The term ‘world class’ is banded about all too often but Bale has deserved the title.
AVB is hoping for more to come from his talisman, after the game against Aston Villa he said “he is improving everyday”, but while he may “be up there with the best” I think there is a lot of improving for Bale to go before he is up there with the bestest.
