2012 has been an impressive sporting year, regardless of which takes your preference. Chelsea secured continental glory by winning the Champions League in emphatic fashion, the Olympic games was an unmitigated success for all those involved and let’s not forget Euro 2012.
With every great event comes superb individual moments of brilliance that grasp the imagination of us fans. In football, it’s stunning strikes or the skill of one individual that will take a supporters breath away, no matter which team they support.
In regards to the best goal this calendar year, there have been a number of contenders that would be worthy of accolade. Roberto Soldado’s strike against Atletico Madrid, Taison of Metalist against Rosenborg, not to mention Jakub Blaszczykowski superb effort for Poland during the 1-1 draw with Russia at the European Championship.
However, they pale in comparison when it comes to Ayanda Patosi’s stunning volley against Standard Liege earlier this year. The Lokeren youngster finished off a superb team move with a goal worthy of winning any game, such was the impressiveness of the strike.
There are unlikely to be many that could’ve matched a goal that deservedly was tagged a ‘Golazo!’.
