Will QPR struggle to survive? (Video)

There have been Queen’s Park Rangers fans that have suggested the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool was one of the most one-sided displays in the history of football at Loftus Road.

The Reds soared into the 3-0 first half lead courtesy of a brace from Luis Suarez and a header from Daniel Agger left the R’s in a perilous position at the foot of the Premiership.

Eight points from safety, it has certainly seen manager Harry Redknapp with an uphill struggle on his hands. The veteran boss took over the reins from Mark Hughes last month following an extremely poor start for the west London side to the campaign.

With the money the Welshman spent over the summer, it’s certainly a position that many of the stars signed aren’t necessarily accustomed to. Nevertheless, Redknapp is still confident the club can secure their top flight status, despite previously admitted it is one of the hardest managerial jobs he has ever undertaken.

Judging from the performance against Liverpool, one echoes his sentiments. QPR looked lacklustre pushing forward and simply abysmal in defence. Regardless of the signings of Julio Cesar, Esteban Granero and Jose Bosingwa, who was recently slapped with a two week fine for refusing to take his place on the bench during the 2-1 win over Fulham, the R’s are in exactly the position they deserve to be.

The year of 2013 is going to be a hugely important one for the club. With players on massive wages, relegation would financially cripple QPR. Yet, despite the players at Redknapp’s disposal, the next five months are going to be one of the toughest of his 30 year managerial career.
