Shaw’s Saints pledge is good for the club (Video)

In recent years, Southampton have produced a number of prodigious youngsters that have gone on to succeed at the very highest level. Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both secured switches to Arsenal, while Gareth Bale has been tearing up the Premiership with Tottenham Hotspur in recent years.

The next player to have been tipped for a bright future in the game is young Luke Shaw. Despite his tender age of just 17, the England U-17 international has already been attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal as club’s look to pluck the next big player for the future.

Reports suggested the Premier League duo were prepared to spend big on Shaw in order to snare him away from the St. Mary’s Stadium before the close of the transfer window, which makes the news the he is prepared to commit his long-term future to Southampton that much better.

For a player of his age, it’s good for him to garner first team experience and the best place to do that at present is to remain with the south coast club. Should Shaw have moved to Stamford Bridge of the Emirates Stadium, chances are his opportunities would be limited with both, regardless of the success of Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain at Arsenal.

Nevertheless, if he is to improve as a player, Southampton is the club for him, at least until he matures and begins to really showcase the potential that he has demonstrated in recent months.
