Following the January arrivals of Tal Ben Haim and Loic Remy, Queen’s Park Rangers are understood to be keen on strengthening further before the close of the transfer window. With the club currently rooted to the foot of the table, chairman Tony Fernandes is prepared to dip into his pocket in order to secure their Premier League future.
One of those manager Harry Redknapp has closely courted is Rennes midfielder Yann M’Villa. The young Frenchman has been told he can leave the Ligue Un side following a series of off-the-pitch incidents, with QPR believed to be close to striking a deal, regardless of interest from Rubin Kazan, whom are currently under an enforced transfer embargo.
However, the mind boggles as to why more teams aren’t interested in the youngster. Despite his antics away from the pitch, the 22-year-old is still one of the most highly rated midfielders in Europe. Of course, two teams that should be showing an interest are Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Both have lost key midfielders to injury in Sandro and Mikel Arteta, respectively, but appear apprehensive to move for M’Vila. While Spurs may have Scott Parker to call upon in the Brazilian’s absence, not to mention Abou Diaby and Francis Coquelin for the Gunners, but the trio don’t possess the similar attributes as the France international.
With the two teams harbouring top four aspirations, the steel and sturdiness of the midfielder could be exactly what they need to push the duo over the finish line during the latter months of the season.
