West Brom have told striker Peter Odemwingie he isn’t going anywhere after Queens Park Rangers submitted a bid of around £2 million, but why would Odemwingie want to leave West Brom for a side sitting at the bottom of the Premier League.
The Baggies sit 12 places and 19 points ahead of QPR and are well on course for a top half finish but Rangers are turning heads by flexing their financial muscle in order to stay in the Premier League for a third season.
Nigerian Odemwingie has played a main part in West Brom’s impressive season so far with 5 goals in 18 league games and showed his value to Steve Clarke’s side with the equalising goal in the 2-2 draw with Midlands rivals Aston Villa.
Throughout his career at The Hawthorns the striker hasn’t been shy of creating his own transfer rumours with Wigan Athletic, Arsenal and even Italian giants Juventus been touted as potential suitors but a move has never materialised.
At 31 years old Odemwingie is coming to the end of his peak years and his next move, if there is one, will surely be the last big one of his career and I’m sure he knows the money QPR will be able to offer every week and in the form of a survival bonus if he does move to Loftus Road.
Steve Clark has made it clear that his striker will not be leaving the club, “It’s well documented about Peter. We had an offer and we don’t intend to sell any of our players.
‘When an offer comes in, we speak to the player out of courtesy. We’ve had that chat with Peter and he knows the situation.”
