When Brazil and England kick off at Wembley on Wednesday night, the eyes of the watching world are going to be fixated on one player in particular – Neymar. The Santos star has been mooted as one of the most exciting players to emerge on the scene in recent years and for all the right reasons; the striker has netted over 200 goals for the Brazilian side despite being just 21-years-old.
Interest in the signature of Neymar is, to no surprise, high. A number of the biggest teams in world football have been credited with an interest in the youngster, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea all courting the striker, despite his insistence on remaining in his homeland until after the 2014 World Cup.
However, when the two footballing nations kick off in London tomorrow evening, there will be scouts aplenty in the crowd watching the player as they garner a closer look at a star dubbed the next Pele.
With England expected to line up in a rigid 4-4-2, it could hugely benefit Neymar, especially if Roy Hodgson starts with Phil Jagielka and Gary Cahill in the heart of the defence. Either way, if Brazil keep the ball on the deck and look to play in Neymar at every given opportunity, and with Phil Scolari back on English soil for the first time since his sacking from Chelsea, then it could be a miserable night for England but a special one for the young Santos man.
