Farewell to Carra (Video)

At the end of the season Merseyside will bid farewell to one of its fondest sons. Well, the red half anyway.

Jamie Carragher announced today that at the end of this season he will be putting the Liverpool shirt on for the last time as he calls time on his 17 year career  with the club.

Carragher leaves having made over 700 appearances for his boyhood club and a host of trophies, most notably the Champions League which Liverpool won in 2005 following a dramatic comeback from 3-0 down against AC Milan.

Never the most technically gifted player ever to grace Anfield’s hallowed turf, Carragher more than made up for it with his tenacious and gritty defending, always leaving everything out on the pitch for his team.

Unfortunately for Carragher he has never been able to lift the Premier League trophy (they won’t be doing it this year) but this is merely a small blip on an otherwise fantastic career which includes 38 caps for England.

Here is at the start of it all (along with champion boxer Michael Owen).
