Spurs vs Newcastle: what a difference a year makes (Video)

When Spurs pulverised Newcastle 5-0 at White Hart Lane almost exactly a year ago both teams were enjoying their best Premier League seasons for quite some time.

Harry Redknapp’s side were challenging for the title and this win displayed Spurs at their best last season; a free, flowing attacking force with pace all over the pitch. Incredibly, Spurs capitulated from that point and miss out on a Champions League place altogether.

Redknapp’s flirting with the England job led to his dismissal and former Chelsea manager Andre Villas Boas was brought in.

Newcastle, despite the loss, went on to finish fifth in the league last season and very nearly nabbed a Champions League spot. Alan Pardew was toast of the town and, as such, was rewarded with a bumper 8 year contract.

How things change eh? Newcastle are currently treading dangerous waters just above the relegation zone after an extremely disappointing first half of the season. Pardew is no longer the toast of the town but has developed a reputation for buying lots of French players, something he once criticised Arsene Wenger for doing. Prat.
