The African Cup of Nations is Africa came to a close last night with the Super Eagles of Nigeria beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final.
It wasn’t a terrible game nor was it one that exuded real quality. Nigeria were clearly the better of the two teams but Burkina Faso, who enjoyed an excellent run, put some pressure on in the closing stages of the game.
The goal that separated the two teams was brilliant, though. Sunday Mba (great name) showed some very nice close control to lift the ball over one defender and then smash it home on the volley.
Mba, who plays his club football for the Warri Warriors in the Nigerian Premier League, will most likely never experience something quite that special again as he scored the winning goal in the African Cup of Nations in Africa final.
