My knowledge of Serbian football is, by all accounts, quite limited.
Whilst I was studying I once encountered a die hard Red Star Belgrade fan and I had the great pleasure of witnessing him watch the Serbian national team on T.V. If you thought the English were passionate about footy than you haven’t seen anything because he lost his mind when Serbia scored. It was incredible.
So, from that experience, I gathered that the Serbs care a great deal about their football.
The capital city of Belgrade entertains one of fiercest rivalries in Partizan and Red Star. My knowledge of Serbian football also extends to the name of Drajan Stojkovic, a Red Star legend.
What I am not so familiar with is Stojkovic’s mastery of the backheel.
The backheel is so cheeky and daring that you have to be a brave man to pull it off as much as Stojkovic did but when it works than it is one of the best sights in football.
