Wilshire Wonderland

Since returning from a long injury, Jack Wilshere has grown in admirable strength and confidence with every game this season, and is back to playing a pivotal part in Arsenal’s current resurgence in form.

Wilshere played the whole ninety minutes of last Wednesday’s match at Wembley, against Brazil (much to the bemused Arsene Wenger) and was named ‘Man of The Match’ by his peers.  With a seemingly cool and mature footballing head on his shoulders, he bullied a Brazilian team showcasing the likes of Ronaldinho, Ramires and Neymar, setting up Walcott in the lead up to Rooney’s goal.

Wilshere has been praised and compared to the likes of Paul Gascoigne for his style of play and performances, but every player has their own character, and it’s that character that shapes them into the player they become.  And to be World class, success is required on the pitch.  Something Jack Wilshere has yet to experience with Arsenal or England.

A precarious young talent, with a massive future for both club and country, fans are praying that he doesn’t get sucked into the footballer’s millionaires’ playground culture, with off the field antics creating headlines for the wrong reason. Yet setting an example, and playing football for those who love and pay to watch the beautiful game.

With the tragic news of Paul Gascoigne fighting for his life in rehab out in the United States, it was nice to see Jack Wilshere being one of a cluster of personalities, who have joined legends Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker in helping fund Paul Gascoigne’s extortionate, weekly health bill whilst he battles alcoholism.

Recently, Mr Wilshere became a father for the first time and its positive moves like this that bode well for his footballing future.

Will Arsenal be singing a ‘Wilshere Wonderland’ come the end of the season?
