There appears to be no hiding place for Arsene Wenger this season. The wily, old Frenchman has come under constant scrutiny for his team’s questionable performances, a 1-0 loss at home to Blackburn in the FA Cup the latest to be scowled upon.
However, the Arsenal board have come out this week and are apparently ready to offer Wenger a new 2-year deal to keep him at the club, as well as a beefy £70m transfer budget to acquire a team capable of competing for the title next season.
It is hard to pin-point the reason why Arsenal have been so poor at times this campaign, but they look lodged outside the top four and the fans are not happy. Chelsea have done the double over them this season, and Manchester United also claimed the three points when they met at Old Trafford earlier in the season, add those results to losses at the hands of West Ham, Norwich and Swansea further angered the Emirates faithful.
To put a smile back on your face, or maybe prod a nerve and worsen the situation, here is a clip of the happier time back in 2002.
