With any manager under pressure, a big name signing will go a long way to appeasing the supporters frustrated at the poor performances they have bore witness to. With that in mind, it isn’t a surprise to see that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a big summer signing session with three players at the top of his wishlist.
Etienne Capoue and Pepe Reina, of Toulouse and Liverpool respectively, are supposedly the top targets for the Frenchman, but one player is who Wenger should be pushing to sign and with good cause. Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic is believed to have been courted once again by the Gunners boss and for good reason.
The 23-year-old striker has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest talents, despite netting just his third goal in seven games for the Viola during Sunday nights 4-1 win over Inter Milan. However, his attacking process and capability both on and off the ball means he would be an ideal Arsenal acquisition, such is their lack of creative imagination from time to time.
Furthermore, with the north London failing to really replace Robin van Persie since he departed for Manchester United, Jovetic could be the ideal replacement for the Dutchman, with both similar in terms of ability and playing style. While the young Fiorentina ace is unlikely to come cheaply, taking him to the Premier League from Serie A could be one of the better moves Wenger makes in the upcoming transfer window.
