Harry Kane’s loan move is a good one

When Harry Kane secured a loan switch to Norwich City from Tottenham Hotspur last month, the deal appeased fans of the north London club. The 19-year-old has only made a handful of appearances for Spurs, both in Europe and in the Premier League, and it’s clear to see that first team football is a necessity.

His time with Millwall saw Kane nine times in 29 games in all competitions and many believed he would be Spurs’ third choice striker this season after seeing the transfer window close with just Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor on the books.

However, the frontman was instead loaned out to Norwich City in order to garner first team Premier League experience, something that was cut short after he made just seven appearances in all competition having suffered an ankle injury that ruled him out for two months.

After the Canaries confirmed that signing of Luciano Becchio, a return to Carrow Road was an impossibility, with Kane expected to be the club’s fifth choice striker. Instead, Spurs have loaned the youngster to Leicester City, with the idea of attaining further first team experience, not to mention a return to match fitness after spending so long on the sidelines.

While it would’ve been ideal for Kane to remain in England’s top tier, the opportunity to have him playing regularly is one that Spurs were unlikely ever going to pass up, such is their hopes of him permanently breaking into the first team in the future.
