Sir Alex Ferguson usually knows a good player when he sees one.
There is a long list of quality players that have passed from the ranks at Manchester Unitedand this is a credit to the club’s scouting network but we all know Fergie as the ability to pick them out.
For some reason, though, things didn’t work out in Manchester for Paul Pogba. A talented player, no doubt, but Fergie didn’t seem to have enough believe in the young man. Perhaps Ferguson thought he was too ‘soft’ for the Premier League or maybe there just wasn’t enough room for him.
Pogba made only three senior appearances for United and, subsequently, signed for Juventus last summer. He has featured prominently for the Old Lady since his move and his best moment to date has been two incredible goals he scored against Udinese in Serie A match a couple of weeks ago.
What can sometimes be forgotten is that Pogba is still only 19 but if continues to score goals and play a key part in Juventus’ midfield, Ferguson may regret letting him go so easily.
Juventus will be hoping that this is a sign of things to come from the young Frenchman.
And there was me thinking he was Didier Drogba’s cousin.
