Football has its cult heroes. Dimitar Berbatov, for example, exudes coolness from every pore in his body and, despite his ‘Keep Calm’ t-shirt and Harlem Shake appearance, the Fulham man is still one of the favourites of the game.
However, his exploits have been overshadowed substantially by that of Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo. The Italy man is one of football’s charlatans with his continuous impressive performances in the heart of the Bianconeri engine room, while his impressive beard has supporters throwing themselves in the direction of the 33-year-old.
The revelation today it emerge that Pirlo owns a vineyard in his native homeland. I mean, a footballer that owns a vineyard. Any footballer could own a vineyard and any football connoisseur would simply overlook it as nothing.
But, Pirlo owning a vineyard, and suddenly the suavest of performers got that bit suaver. It’s another trait of the midfielder that has seen fans take him to heart, and rightly so. Either way, you can tell that the wine that is produced by the Italy international is of the highest quality, especially if his footballing ability is anything to go.
I cannot be the only one who wants to try a glass, or two, of Mr Pirlo’s product.
