Jonathan Williams: The next product from the Palace conveyor belt (Video)

Crystal Palace have made a habit over recent years producing a number of youth team prospects with the capability of making it at the very highest level. Granted, John Bostock failed to live up to expectations, but with Wilfried Zaha set to join Manchester United at the end of the season, the next youngster the light up the Football League is already being tracked by heated rivals Manchester City.

That player is 19-year-old midfielder Jonathan Williams, who has made 23 appearances for the Championship side already this season and already has seven caps for the Wales U21 national team. Despite his age, Williams continuously churns out performances that wouldn’t look out of place in a player 10 years his senior.

His main attributes remain his exceptional ball control, passing and vision, a facet that would, ultimately, be utilised to its full potential by City manager Roberto Mancini. The youngster is already being courted by England’s top teams, but it’s City that lead the race after assistant manager David Platt personally checked on the midfielder recently.

With the onus again on developing talent, not to mention the need to produce young home grown talent, Williams could well be a very good signing for the Citizens, should they move for the Palace ace at the end of the season.
