Carlos Bacca may be on the Premier League radar (video)

Club Brugge striker Carlos Bacca is the Belgian Pro League’s top scorer with 24 goals this term and may be heading for a summer exit.

Belgian football has been a go-to market for several English Premier League sides in recent seasons as shown by Aston Villa’s signing of Christian Benteke and Chelsea’s capture of Thibaut Courtois and Romanu Lukaku. Colombian striker Carlos Bacca could be the next to follow suit in this particular production line as the 26 year old has grabbed the headlines in Belgium this season with a series of impressive performances to match his very healthy goal tally.

Bacca had played in his homeland until 2011 where he also led the scoring charts and won the Colombian League with Atletico Junior before moving to Europe with Club Brugges. The striker appears to be one of many Colombian footballers plying their trade in Europe who are spearheading somewhat of a resurgence in Colombian football along with the likes of Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez.

Although Bacca has only made a handful of appearances for the Colombian national team, his club form in Belgium has not gone un-noticed back home in South America and as such Bacca was called up for a recent friendly against Cameroon in which he scored his first international goal.

Bacca will be vying with Falcao and Rodriguez for a spot on the plane to Brazil for the World Cup next summer and therefore the forward may be looking to transfer to a bigger stage at the end of the season.

Lazio have already been rumoured to have an interest in Bacca, however with several English clubs monitoring the Belgian Pro League, a move to the Premier League may also be on the cards.
