If you believe reports from the Mirror, and not many of you do, Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse is on the radar of Borussia Dortmund as a potential replacement of Robert Lewandowski who looks set to leave the club in the summer.
Although Cisse’s incredible run of form at the start of his Newcastle career raised expectations to an unrealistic level, Toon fans are said to have had enough of his poor displays as his goals have thoroughly dried up since the departure of Demba Ba to Chelsea in January.
It could be because he misses his companion. It could be a result of Alan Pardew’s gammy tactical decision. It could even be because he is not getting the chances made for him. Whatever it is, Dortmund have seen enough of him to warrant a serious interest.
Probably the 13 goals that he has scored…
Their Polish goal-gobbler Lewandowski is now amongst the best in Europe and is hot property, and despite the fact that Dortmund have reached the Champions League final and finished second in the Bundesliga this campaign he sees his future away from the club.
I am sure if a big enough offer came in for Cisse then the Toon fans would chip in for a taxi for the Senegalese forward and tart looking forward to a summer of clotting together.
