David Beckham’s finest moment (Video)
OK, I promise this is the last thing you’ll hear about David Beckham. Promise.
Even Chris Waddle is going to stop talking now and really he should have never opened his mouth. Who gave Waddle a job as a pundit? What moron did that? The man doesn’t have two functioning brain cells. Beckham doesn’t make his top 1,000 English players? I wonder where he ranks himself.
Anyway, we all know about those free kicks. It was Beckham’s speciality and there are a number to choose from if you’re going to talk about the man’s best goals.
But there is one that stands out more than any other and that is the halfway line chip against Wimbledon. What a way to announce yourself as football’s next superstar with a sumptuous chip from the halfway line. To even consider it was audacious but the fact that he pulled it off displays the skill and class Beckham possessed.
This is where it all started for young Beckham really and take a look at that extremely poor haircut. Mind you curtains were all the rage in the mid-90s so I suppose, at the time, Beckham was just fitting in. This isn’t a piece about Beckham’s various haircuts throughout the years, it is about the man’s superb, and best, goal against Wimbledon in 1996.
What a moment and what a career that followed.
