As people begin to flock to the beaches for our short British summer, it is a good time to look at those youngsters who honed their skills playing on the finest beaches South America has to offer. Chelsea are swooping in on one of them, with Wallace agreeing to join in July from Fluminese, but who else is getting scouting networks worldwide in a tizzy?
Starting with Wallace, comparisons to Cafu are inevitable and lazy, but sometimes the cap just fits. Chelsea have a lot to look forward judging by this video. Wallace’s strength, skill and pace will perhaps give the Stamford Bridge faithful something down the right that Ashley Cole has given them down the left for the last seven years. Also, with David Luiz having started off the Brazilian Chelsea contingent, there would be no trouble fitting in.
Sporting Lisbon teenager Wallyson Mallmann has been interesting both Barcelona and Tottenham of late, and while that choice may seem like a no-brainer to most, the midfielder still has plenty to prove, but this goal showcases an already excellent technique.
Bernard Anicio Caldeira Duarte, or simply Bernard, has the quick feet of a future European star. Atletico Minero currently have the pleasure of his already unquestionable ability. He has been included in Brazil’s Confederations Cup squad, and a transfer is mooted, with Spurs and Dortmund rumoured to be battling it out for his signature.
Cassiano Bouzon, an 11-year-old with an already impressive YouTube video, is expecting to join Fluminese’s youth system. The transition to full-size pitches may yet prove a step too far for him, but show me another pre-teen sensation with such silky skills and I’ll gladly sell my possessions.
