Premier League striker on top of Liverpool’s list this summer

With the consensus that Suarez is on his way out of Liverpool, that leaves a massive gap that needs plugging and with Benteke seeming to be at a crossroads in his career, they may be able to tempt the Belgian to join the red half of Merseyside.

With Luis Suarez and Liverpool edging towards severing ties between one another, it could be the end of their somewhat difficult relationship and it looks like it could be drawn out a while longer before it eventually ends on bad terms. This leaves Liverpool without a front man to lead their line next season and with Sturridge expected to miss the start of next season with ankle ligament damage, they could be drastically short of options with Sturridge’s recovery expected to take up till the middle of September. But in Birmingham, there is a man who can do the job and he seems to be halting contract talks with his current club, Aston Villa, whilst he weighs up his options. Christian Benteke is not only being tracked by Liverpool, though, with Athletico Madrid keeping an eye on him as they have just lost arguably the best centre forward in the world to newly riched AS Monaco in Ligue 1 and Athletico have a tendency to build strikers up to being world class, such as Torres, Aguero and Falcao, arguably Jose Antonio Reyes, too (I’m kidding)  and then them being poached by more attractive teams, but always recovering from it and doing well as they can do in La Liga.

Other teams looking at him include Champions League runners up, Borussia Dortmund as they look to build on their impressive European form and could potentially be losing Lewandowski to Bayern Munich, although it seems to have died down about the reported “agreed deal” between Dortmund and Munich. It appears both North London clubs are looking at him with Spurs in need of someone to ease the goal scoring on Gareth Bale and Arsenal needing more options up top to really push on to challenge for the title. So it could be a manic couple of months for the big Belgian striker, but nothing will be discussed between him and the club until he returns from International duty and talk about the details of his new offered contract and listen to offers from other teams, so don’t expect this to be the last you hear of the Christian Benteke saga.
