Tottenham’s rebuilding for next season looks to be starting with Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin, as Andre Villas-Boas has asked the Italian club to send him to north London. According to the Express Inter president Massimo Moratti is willing to let the Colombian leave the San Siro in order to pick up the services of Mathieu Flamini and Mauricio Isla who currently plies his trade for Juventus.
Guarin worked with AVB at Porto when they won the treble back in 2011 and the Portuguese coach is ready to rekindle the relationship at White Hart Lane, but does that mean that fans of the club can expect one of their current crop getting the boot?
Spurs currently have Scott Parker, Mousa dembele, Sandro, Clint Dempsey, Tom Carroll, Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone all residing in the middle of the pitch, so with another head vying for a place then things could get heated.
Guarin has represented Envigado, Boca Juniors, Saint Etienne, Porto and Inter Milan in his career and also holds 39 caps for his country and scored seven goals from the midfield last season in Serie A. However, the £17m fee being whispered seems a tad high for someone turning 27 this month.
Stand by Spurs, Guarin’s gonna get ya.
