All seems positive at Chelsea right now. Not only have they been greeted with their former hero Jose Mourinho at the helm at Stamford Bridge, but they seem to be ready to make a few big summer signings to really push on in their search for major trophies next season. However, the Daily Mail are reporting that Barcelona are ready to make a double swoop to take both Fernando Torres and young midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Now, the humoured readers will no doubt be sniggering to themselves and making jokes about Torres leaving being a bonus, and for the £20m transfer fee that the publication is suggesting I would probably agree with you, but the Spaniard scored some important goals for the Blues this year.
The £50m man scored more than 20 goals in all competitions last season, although only eight were in the Premier League, and that was enough to impress the bosses at Camp Nou enough to make initial contact regarding a summer move.
The other, and less known half of the two, is 17-year-old England youth player Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who impressed spectators during the Blues friendly against Manchester City in New York recently. His displays also warranted interest from the Citizens themselves despite his bumper deal signed earlier this year.
Barcelona will be getting a promising, quality player should the deal come off, and… Err… Fernando Torres.
