Tottenham have had a £17m offer for Colombia international Fredy Guarin, but Inter are prepared to accept an offer of £21m, according to the Mirror. Another midfielder, you may sigh, but the paper also report that he will replace Scott Parker who seems to be rusting at the knees at an incredible rate.
Spurs have a huge amount of talent in the middle of their team. Some more than others, granted, but with the likes of Tom Huddlestone, Clint Dempsey, Mousa Dembele, Tom Carroll, Jake Livermore, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lewis Holtby, and Sandro competing for places, you have to expect at least a few faces to be leaving for pastures new in the coming weeks.
Parker missed a large chunk of the season with injury and never looked the same when he returned to action, and with Andre Villas-Boas looking to utilise a different type of central midfielder – a real box-to-box who can both defend and create – Parker cannot offer what the likes of Sandro or indeed Guarin can.
The 26-year-old appeared in 32 Serie A games for Inter last season and scored four goals, created 42 chances for his colleagus and completed 77% of the 61 tackles he attempted. Whether or not he is worth £21m is up to AVB to decide, but I think Scotty P will be looking for a new club as we speak.
