We all know about the all time goal-scoring record that is accredited to Thierry Henry’s name but he was also very adept at setting up goals too.
What a side the Invincibles were, eh? Such a brilliant attacking force with so many players that could hurt you with Thierry Henry spear heading it all.
During his prime there was no one quite like ol’ Thierry. He had it all; searing pace, excellent finishing, stamina and, most importantly, a very high footballing IQ. The awareness he showed whilst out on the pitch was second to none; Henry always knew where his teammates were and this explains part of the reason why he was able to rack up so many assists.
It is quite astonishing really to think how many goals Henry was directly involved in during his time at Arsenal. Going on statistics alone Henry scored 174 goals and assisted 106 which totals up to 280 goals the Frenchman was involved in. How many more of his classy touches, though, led to a goal?
He was outstanding and for all the talk of his legendary antics in front of goal his generosity should not be overlooked either.
The mark of a truly great player is whether or not he is able to make his teammates better and, using that criteria, then Henry was truly one of the Premier League’s greats.
