Contrary to popular belief, Alexis Sanchez is not actually as good as his Youtube vides would suggest.
Once the darling of Udinese, famed for his dangerous striking partnership with Antonio Di Natale, the Chilean has found himself in and out of the Barcelona team since his big money arrival in 2011.
His, supposed, eye for goal, pace, trickery and work ethic actually saw him named, somewhat unofficially, the most promising youngster of 2011 in a FIFA online poll.
Yet, on an almost weekly basis, Cules everywhere are subjected to performances that range from the sublime (a rarity) to mediocre at best (a more frequent occurrence).
His potential could be, and I say that loosely because there are no guarantees, limitless. His skill set is such that he could perform to an exceptional level every week if he really felt like it. Instead fans find themselves witnessing displays that leave them wondering how quickly Udinese ran off to the bank with their millions.
Rumours of Manchester City’s interest have dispersed since their big money move for Jesus Navas and, following Neymar’s arrival, Sanchez’s time in Spain is beginning to look like a wasted opportunity.
If he’s sold, the club will be lucky to get anywhere the near €30 million they shelled out to make him the first Chilean to ever wear their famous shirt and one can’t help but feel that, given the grandest stage of them all, Alexis has fluffed his lines when it probably matters the most.
However, here’s a video to highlight those rare moments he manages to get it all together. Almost looks good doesn’t he?
