40-year-old shot-stopper Mark Schwarzer will join Chelsea on a one year contract and be the second choice of goal keeper behind current starter Petr Cech. The question is how many games will he play under current boss Jose Mourinho.
The Australian international has spent the past 6 years with Fulham and has been their main man between the sticks in which he made 172 appearances for the club. He will be a great substitute for Petr Cech if he gets injured or Mourinho sees otherwise. He also spent most of his career at Middlesbrough also making 367 appearances.
Petr Cech has also been the main man for Chelsea, we have to wait and see how much game time Schwarzer will receive.
Because now Australia has qualified for next year’s world cup, he will be in the spotlight once again to prove himself that he is still capable of carrying Australia through group stage. In my opinion, I think its a great choice as a number 2 for Petr Cech as he has all the skills and experience to carry on for another amount of years.
The question is, will Chelsea qualify for Champions League and will Schwarzer get the game time he requests?
