Derren Brown heads to Queens Park Rangers for trick (Video)
I have always been a little sceptical about magicians and ‘mind readers’.
Magicians are OK I suppose as everybody knows that they are just trying pull a fast one and all that posturing about how it is actually magic is all slightly tongue in cheek. There is always a reasonable explanation.
Mind readers, though, are a different story and I must say that I am little apprehensive about having someone mess around inside my mind.
Derren Brown has to be most convincing mind reader and he is altogether very impressive at what he does. Being a cynic, however, I still think it is all him pulling the wool over our eyes and everything he does is a stage show complete with actors and crew who are all in on the rouse.
Take this clip, for example, where he meets QPR’s Marc Bircham in the middle of the Loftus Road pitch and talk penalties. Taking a penalty is an intricate art in itself and I can see why this particular aspect of the beautiful game would interest Brown.
After having a quick chat about penalties, Brown asks Bircham (what is that hair all about?) to take a couple of penalties whilst he guesses where he is going to put them on a pad of paper.
This is where I start to doubt what is going on. Yes, Brown guesses everyone right but considering it is a T.V show who is to say that the producers just cut out the part where Bircham tells Brown exactly where is going to place the penalties?
Anyway, apologies for this highly pessimistic view but it is, nonetheless, an entertaining clip for you on this Saturday afternoon.
