Could Former Liverpool Star Shine At Juventus?

Juventus are looking at pursuing another veteran playmaker to take over from Andrea Pirlo, that being Spanish international Xabi Alonso.

The former Liverpool man could well be on his way to Italy in 2014 as Juventus are keeping an eye on his his contract situation- he will become a bosman transfer next season. Andrea Pirlo turns 35 years old and could call time on his career in football so the Bianconeri want to strengthen their midfield and not leave any gaps should Pirlo leave.

The 31-year-old would behandy for Antonio Conte as Alonso can play a variety of positions in the midfield, but preferably a playmaker. He had a great career with English side Liverpool where he spent 5 seasons, making over 140 appearances and scoring 15 goals.

Real Madrid later captured his services for a hefty price-tag of £30,000,000 move on 5 August 2009. He would later admit that he was not ready to leave Liverpool, but quarrels with then coach Rafa Benitez quickly made his decision clearer.

In my opinion, Xabi Alonso will be a perfect fit for Juventus if Pirlo decides to retire. They will need no restructure or even to change the formation as he slot in very well, creating goal opportunities for Arturo Vidal, Claudio Marchisio, Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.
