3 Reasons Manchester United Should Swoop For Playmaker Who Made 95 Chances Last Season

This season has been dominated by Premier League managers. Whether it has been David Moyes’ poor start at Manchester United or Arsene Wenger’s rise from the flames with Arsenal, people have been picking apart the gaffers. Especially Jose Mourinho, whose decision to leave Juan Mata out of his early squads has left people seething. But here are three reasons Manchester United should take advantage of the Spaniards current position and make a bid in January.

1) Playmaker

Mata is incredible at what he does – perhaps one of the best in Europe. Upon receiving the ball, the 25-year-old looks up and scan the pitch before deciding on what to do. Whether it’s bursting forward with the ball, creating space for his team-mates or sliding pin-point passes through to his strikers, Mata has it all. Last season Mata created a whopping 95 chances for his colleagues.

2) Fills a gap

With Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini operating in the central areas at Manchester United, it begs for a little nippy player who can play anywhere across the frontline to assist the forward. While United hold Shinji Kagawa, Moyes doesn’t seem a fan, and Mata is the perfect man for that role.

3) Match winner

When Robin van Persie is out of the squad, it’s very hard to see where the magic is going to come from. Wayne Rooney is the most imaginative player, but he can’t do it on his own. We saw against West Brom United needed a match winner, someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck and pull the Old Trafford side to victory, and few do it better than Mata.
