3 Central Midfielders Manchester United Should Look To Buy In January
With all the talk of Manchester United’s midfield problems over the summer, and now to some extent, here are three players David Moyes should look to swoop for in January.
1) Ricardo Montolivo – AC Milan
So far this season, Montolivo has averaged a whopping 73 passes per game in Serie A, and has been a huge reason as to why Milan are ticking over nicely. He is able to play in the middle of the pitch, a deeper role, in the attacking areas on down the right.
He reminds me of a more direct Michael Carrick. He is able to launch balls all over the pitch for his team-mates and can see things others can’t, but being more attacking while he;’s at it.
Montolivo has completed 89% of his passes this season.
2) Ivan Rakitic – Sevilla
The 25-year-old is atrue box-to-box midfielder who can play in any central position. He has been deployed in a more defensive role so far this season for his La Liga club but still has four goals and two assists to his name.
He holds the ability to open defences with his passes, while also offers a brilliant delivery from set pieces.
3) Luca Cigarini – Atalanta
Possibly a player you’re unaware of, but the 27-year-old is a wonderful player. The way he is able to unpick an opponent’s attack before floating a pass is delightful, and he very rarely chooses the wrong option.
