Liverpool currently possess one of the most impressive strike forces in the Premier League. The link up play between Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge has seen the dup labelled the ‘SAS’ in homage to the Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton pairing that we saw all those years ago. Between Suarez and Sturridge they have produced 10 goals so far this season, with the former grabbing seven and the latter scoring three in three games, but the Metro are reporting that Brendan Rodgers is interested in Manchester City forward John Guidetti.
Rodgers’ preference toward young, energetic players has played a huge part in his recent success at Anfield, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Jonjo Shelvey, Andre Wisdom and even Philippe Coutinho excelling over the past year or so, so it’s no real surprise that he is opting for youth once again with the 21-year-old Swede.
Guidetti has just one appearance for City in his five year stint which came in the League Cup, but it was his loan to Dutch side Feyenoord in the 2011/12 season that got heads turning. He struck 20 goals in just 23 games for the topflight side before going on to pick up a long term injury.
He is now ready to play again, apparently, and the new year could see him walking through those famous doors at Anfield.
